Standalone 12V batteries are the cheapest storage per Wh for RV, van and shed builds, but you supply the inverter and charge controller. LiFePO4 is the default today: lighter than lead-acid, usable to near-empty, and rated for thousands of cycles. Capacity in Wh = volts × amp-hours.
